What font does Star Wars use?

The 1977 Star Wars logo was drawn by designer Suzy Rice from a heavily modified Helvetica Black, while the famous opening crawl text is traditionally set in News Gothic. What everyone pictures, though, is the result: massive yellow letters receding into a starfield. This Star Wars font generator reproduces that yellow title treatment — the color, the weight, and the cinematic perspective — for whatever text you type, right in your browser.

Ideas for your Star Wars text

The classics: May the 4th party signs, wedding table cards ('A NEW HOPE' works suspiciously well for a reception), birthday invitations with the kid's name in giant yellow letters, baby announcements styled as Episode I, YouTube thumbnails, and classroom posters. Teachers in particular use the Star Wars text generator to title lessons — few things get a class reading faster than their syllabus rendered as a galactic title card.

Want the full opening crawl?

A still image is half the magic. Our Star Wars Intro Creator animates your text as the complete opening crawl — the blue 'A long time ago…' card, the exploding logo, and your words scrolling into infinity — and lets you download it as a video. The PNG download here is free for personal, fan-made use. Star Wars and its logo are property of Lucasfilm; this is an unofficial fan tool.
